KAMAYADAN FESTIVAL
We have this kamayadan festival every first week of
March to celebrate the abundance of rice harvests, governance’s feasts and to
showcase the culture and traditions. Kamayadan comes from an Ilonggo term mayad,
means “good”. As the day of kamayadan festival, there is a street dancing in
showcasing the process of how to grow a palay. Process includes hardships of
people under the heat of the sun, the pest to kill, prayer for a good weather
until harvest time where all people smile and celebrate with kakanin. There are
also kubo for every barangay to decorate with mostly palay, and vegetables and
products we make from it.
